The Maui Seaside Hotel | A Hidden Gem About To Be Repolished

This year FAME is on the hunt for the best hotels, activities, flights, food, drinks, entertainment and travel experiences!

Our search begins on the island of Maui in the Hawaiian Islands. From mouth watering vegan burgers to mind blowing milkshakes, The Ritz-Carlton–Maui, Kapalua offers breathtaking views and incredible food selections at The Burger Shack… but let’s save this experience for another day.

While searching for Maui’s hidden gems, we came across the Maui Seaside Hotel. Just 2.5 miles from the Kahului Airport, this quaint hotel overlooks the Kahului Harbor and is close to a wide variety of stores, beaches, and cultural attractions to explore. Additionally, it's at the start of the Hana Highway, a historic road with many scenic points for you to capture the beauty of the islands.

Known for providing the Spirit of Aloha with comfort and affordability, the staff at this hotel truly live up to this standard.

We were able to speak with William Rees, General Manager who shared their upcoming refurbishment plans along with their long-term transformational objectives. The Hilton's Tapestry Collection, original hotels that give guests distinctive flair and colorful personality, will soon include this uniquely situated and historic hotel. Each carefully chosen Tapestry Collection Property invites visitors to discover the neighborhood and unleash their inner adventurer. The Maui Seaside Hotel is pleased to offer a refreshed new look, while staying true to their roots.

“The hotel will have updated bathrooms, new furniture, and new decor. Common areas will also be redone, and outside areas will be modernized.” ~ William Rees

The staff members make an extra effort to make the guest's stay unforgettable in all hotel areas. “I am honored to carry on the hotel's tradition of kindness and cleanliness in welcoming guests,” says Mr. Rees. The personification of the hospitality practice at the hotel since 1956, in his opinion, is its best feature. He is very proud of his staff and housekeeping for continuing to maintain a genuine relationship with guests and for their utmost integrity with maintaining the property.

All 185 guest rooms at the Maui Seaside Hotel will undergo a thorough refurbishment as part of the hotel's expansion and remodeling efforts to improve visitor experience. Landscaping, hallways and other common areas will be refreshed. The hotel's facade and the entry court will also be lovingly renovated while maintaining the original form and structure.

Tante's Island Cusine, the hotel's on-site restaurant, will also get brand-new improvements and an entirely new interior design concept to go along with the hotel's evolutionary transformation. The hotel is adding a new lounge in the lobby to be called The Hukilau in honor of the hotel’s original name.

He advises tourists to visit the Hale Hōʻikeʻike at the Bailey House, a Hawaiian history and art museum located in Wailuku, and the Alexander & Baldwin Sugar Museum, which showcases the history of Hawaiian sugarcane farms. Additionally, he notes that the Obon, or Bon season, a Japanese Buddhist tradition observed by Missions all over Maui in the summer, is one of the island's most distinctive and well-liked attractions.

A stay at The Maui Seaside is a must when traveling to Maui. With its original and contemporary classic Hawaiian-style heritage, it will improve its standards of extending Aloha hospitality even more. We know upon its completion, currently scheduled for March 1, 2024, the Maui Seaside Hotel will truly be a sight to behold.

Getting There: Rent a car, take a taxi, or take advantage of their shuttle services from the airport.
